We recently had a fun little contest on Facebook where we asked people to comment with their favorite smoothie recipes. We called it our ‘Smooth as Skin Giveaway,' because superfood-packed smoothies are a great way to keep your skin glowing!
Our two winners, Amy Custard and Skye Jones, each received our Dead Sea Scrub, Coconut Honey Mask, and an ASC towel, some beautifying products to complement their beautifying smoothie recipes. 🙂
Amy's Minty Citrus Smoothie with Ginger and Hemp Seeds
Ingredients:
- 1 banana
- 1 handful of strawberries
- 1 clementine
- 12 leaves of fresh peppermint
- 1/2 tsp diced ginger
- 3 tbsp hemp seeds
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- A splash of coconut or almond milk
Directions: Blend and enjoy.
We love how uniquely delicious this recipe is! The healthy fat from the hemp seeds helps your body absorb the fat soluble vitamins, such as vitamin E and vitamin A (both very important for your skin!). Plus, the balance of fat and protein help keep your blood sugar from spiking.
This is also a great smoothie for when you're sick!
- Peppermint is a decongestant
- Ginger helps soothe an upset stomach
- Honey coats the throat and helps with coughing
As you can see, we're loving Amy's recipe.
Skye's Healthy Version of a Chocolate Milkshake
Ingredients:
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 heaping tbsp cacao powder
- 1/2 tbsp maca powder
- 12 oz. almond milk (or to desired consistency)
- Dash of cacao nibs and coconut flakes
Directions: blend and enjoy
This smoothie is a health conscious chocolate lover's dream! Cacao has loads of antioxidants that are great for your skin. Plus, chocolate contains PEA, a compound known as the love molecule, which promotes clear thinking and lower stress. Read about an awesome supplement that has PEA here.
Maca contributes to this smoothie's flavor and is also an adaptogen, meaning it helps your body deal with stress and supports the adrenal glands. This recipe is a great way to start the day.
