Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: So that is a bit about us. From there, we can jump into questions. As I said, you can just share a little bit about your skin, your skin concerns, questions that you have, why you chose to join the call, and that sort of thing and we can go from there.
Does anybody want to share? Is anybody willing to share?
Customer: I'll start if that's okay.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Yeah, absolutely.
Customer: I use Annmarie, some of the products, and I like it. The CBD product is what really took care of my breakouts. I turned 60 and had acne for the first time in my life, and they were really painful breakouts. The CBD is the only thing that actually took care of the redness and the breakouts. And now I can't find it. So, I need to know what the alternative is. That is the main reason that I joined the call.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Okay, I have one for you. We recently discontinued our Activated CBD Serum, but we replaced it with the Activated Hemp Serum.

Have you tried this yet?
Customer: No.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Okay. So they're very, very similar. The formula is very similar. The main difference is that we are using the hemp as opposed to the CBD. Part of why we chose to make this shift was because with selling the CBD, we had to sell it on that separate site, which made it a little bit less easily accessible for our customers, especially new customers. We've partnered with a different company. We sourced our CBD from Ojai Energetics, and now we are sourcing the hemp from Onda Wellness. And honestly, I am a Wild Fruit Serum girl. I love our Wild Fruit Serum. That is my go-to, but I have been loving this hemp serum, and I am very congestion-prone as well. I feel like this may even be my new favorite.
So, with the CBD versus the hemp, again, very similar formulas, but the new serum contains hemp oil that is infused from the whole flower. It’s really interesting…we’ve had some calls with Steven, who owns Onda, and we actually just did a post yesterday on our Instagram. If you follow us on Instagram, you can watch the video. But it’s really fascinating to listen to him talk about the hemp oil and the way that their extraction process and their infusion process is really similar to ours.
One of the things he talks about that I thought was really great was how people are so focused on the CBD, and he compared it to, if you want vitamin C and you go to the store and you buy an Emergen-C packet to get vitamin C as opposed to going and buying an orange, then you're getting that vitamin C, but you're missing out on all of these other beautiful properties and nutrients that you get when you eat an orange.
So with the hemp flower oil, it's more all-encompassing. It’s rich in CBG, which is just a different cannabinoid that is similar to CBD, as well as antioxidants, terpenes, and fatty acids that all support skin health.
So I think that if you’ve been happy with the CBD serum you will be happy with this as well. It still has the mangosteen and black cumin, the tremella and hyaluronic, the astaxanthin, and all of that good stuff just as the CBD serum did. I would definitely give it a try and see what you think.
Good question. Thank you for sharing. Does anybody else want to share?
Customer: Sure. So, I've only tried the samples from Dr. Z. I tried it once years ago, and then I tried it again recently. I really just need clean products that work. I’m turning 55 this year; I find that I have some hanging skin and some dark circles. And my skin is very sensitive. So I'm just curious what you would recommend for me. But again, I just really want it to be clean.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Ok. So, the trial that you got, I assume it's the Aloe Herb Cleanser, the Anti-Aging Serum, a tiny Anti-Aging Facial Oil.
Customer: Yes.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: And then did it come with a bonus product?
Customer: Yes. It was like $20, and it had a little bonus. I like the cleanser a lot, and I currently don't have a toner. So I was interested in that. And I really don't know, they're so tiny it is a little bit hard to tell.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Yea, the trial kit is great to kind of see how the products feel and how they smell, but they are just smaller trial sizes and the facial oil like I mentioned that comes with it is really small.
Do you know what the bonus product that you got in the kit was?
Customer: It was a black label. I'd have to run upstairs and look. I feel like it was a nighttime anti-aging one.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Okay. So it sounds like it came with the Activated Night Serum. Perfect.
So that starter kit is a really popular one that people start with often and those are our top three bestselling products.
The Aloe Herb Cleanser sounds like a great choice for you, because you did mention that you tend to be a little bit more sensitive.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: The Aloe Herb is a creamy, nourishing cleanser. It's really great for all skin types. It's got the aloe vera of course, which is rich in vitamins and minerals, phytonutrients and enzymes. There's some coconut oil in there, some lemon oil, which gives it that really nice citrusy scent. There's some calendula, which is great for calming the look of temporary redness. So that is probably a great choice for you. You could stick with that one.
The next step in your kind of general routine would be your toning mist, which doesn't come in that kit. You could probably start out with one of two and be happy with either; the Neroli Toning Mist or the Botanical Hydration Mist. Your toner in general is just offering a dose of hydration and skin supporting nutrients. It also helps with product absorption. To use, after you cleanse you’re going to just rinse, pat your face dry, and mist your toning mist over your face and neck. Then while your skin is still a bit damp from your toner apply your serum and oil.
So the Neroli Toning Mist is in our Signature Collection. It is very popular, it’s one of our bestselling products. It’s an aloe vera juice base, the neroli essential oil, which is derived from fresh orange blossoms, so it smells really lovely, and some aspen bark extract, which acts as a natural preservative but is also a natural source of salicins.
The other option would be the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. This one is in the Wild Alchemy Collection. It is a larger size. This one is good for all skin types, but it's especially great for sensitive skin. It has a blend of four different types of chamomile in it. And then it also has some rose in there. And then as far as more of those anti-aging ingredients, it’s got the frankincense, which is known to tone, tighten, and rejuvenate and the immortelle, which is a powerful antioxidant.

So really you could probably choose either of these and be happy with it. The scent profile is very different. So if you're a scent person, that could be something that might help you choose.
As I mentioned the Neroli mist is a bit sweeter smelling with the neroli essential oil in there. The Botanical is much more herbal smelling with the frankincense and the immortelle. So if you're a sent person, that could be helpful.
After misting your toning mist, you would apply your serum. In the kit that you have, you've got the Anti-Aging Serum. So this one is our bestselling serum. People love this one. This one I like to refer to as a daily dose of overall skin nutrition. It's very antioxidant-rich. It's got buddleja and life everlasting flowers. It's very deeply hydrating. It's got a non-GMO vegetable sourced hyaluronic acid in it. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that binds water to the skin. Hyaluronic in particular holds 1,000 times its weight in water, so really deeply hydrating the skin is going to have kind of a plumping effect on the skin versus if your skin is dehydrated, it's going to emphasize fine lines and wrinkles. This one, the scent profile is very floral, very vetiver heavy. And again, good for all skin types. Since you have this one in your kit I would just start here. Give it a try and see how you feel about it.
So as far as how much to use, you can kind of just play around with it and see what feels good for your skin. It’s kind of up to you. I tend to use more oil and less serum, but I know that Rach, our COO, is the opposite. She uses more serum and less oil. So it is kind of just what feels best for you. It’s a little tricky with the trial bottles because they don't have the pump top. Like typically you might use 1-2 pumps of your serum, but with the travel size bottle maybe a pea size or so.
Customer: Okay
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: So that would be a great place to start with your serum and then we have several other serums that we can dive into that you could also check out if you wanted to. But basically, I would try the one that's in your kit, see how it feels for you, and if you like it, go with it, you know?
Customer: Yes, that sounds good. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Okay. A couple of other options that we can touch on. We did touch on the new Activated Hemp Serum, which is a great choice for all skin types. This could actually be a really nice choice for you because you did mention that you are a bit more sensitive and it is so nice for sensitive skin.
This one has a little bit thicker, richer texture to it. So I think you probably saw with the Anti-Aging Serum that when I pumped it, it just kind of runs down my hand a bit more. It's a little bit more aqueous. You can see how the hemp serum is thicker. It’s got both hyaluronic acid and tremella mushroom extract in it, so it's very deeply hydrating. The scent profile of the hemp serum is very different from the Anti-Aging Serum. That one, as I mentioned, is very floral, very vetiver heavy and it has a pretty strong scent. The Hemp Serum smells much lighter. It's a more mild scent. I love the way this one smells! So that could be another choice.
Customer: Would that be after the Anti-Aging Serum, or you're saying to pick either the hemp or the anti-aging?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: You would just pick one. I mean technically you could use both and alternate them, but I’m just giving you some options. I would try the Anti-Aging Serum first since you have it, see how it's feeling, see how you like it, and then maybe down the road you feel like you want to switch it up and try something different you could give the Hemp Serum a try.
And then let's see. I also want to talk about, because you got the sample in your kit, the Activated Night Serum in your kit, so let's talk about that one.
So what you would do with the kit that you have is you would use your cleanser. If you wanted to get a toner, you could mist your toner, apply your Anti-Aging Serum while your skin is damp from the mist, and then at nighttime instead of the Anti-Aging Serum, you could apply the Activated Night Serum.
This one is only to be used at night and you want to use it with an SPF during the day, because it does contain our bioactive A complex, which is our alternative to a retinol.
So this is an excellent product for addressing signs of aging. It is definitely a little bit of a step-up from the Anti-Aging Serum as far as addressing fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging with that bioactive A complex in there.
I'm sure you've heard of Retinol, Retin A, all of the vitamin A derivatives. They are kind of considered the gold standard as far as anti-aging ingredients go, but they can be harmful to your health. They can be harmful to reproductive health, even for skin health. If you are using a vitamin A product over an extended period of time, it can start to thin the skin, which really isn’t what we want as we age. We want to support our skin’s natural barrier to have really healthy, resilient skin. And then also for somebody who's more sensitive a conventional retinol can be very irritating to the skin. So that's why we wanted to have this alternative. The bioactive A complex is a completely safe ingredient. It's derived from algae. It's a Made Safe approved ingredient and it has a similar effect on the skin as a conventional retinol, it has that renewing, resurfacing effect.
This one again, is that thicker, creamier texture. It feels very nourishing. It's a nice balance because you've got the activated bioactive A complex, but it's balanced really nicely with lavender and blue chamomile, these more soothing ingredients.
And so typically people even with sensitive skin can use this, Grace who isn’t on the call today, but typically is, has very sensitive skin and she is still able to use this product. I know that she doesn’t use it consistently every night, but she is able to use it every other night without it causing any redness or irritation.
So you could play around with it a bit. You could do the Anti-Aging Serum morning and night on Monday, and then on Tuesday you do the Anti-Aging Serum in the morning and the Activated Night Serum at night. You can experiment a bit to find what feels best for your skin. Does that make sense?
Customer: Yeah, that makes sense.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: And you already have it, so that is perfect. Just give it a try and see what you think.
Customer: Okay. That's perfect. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: And then the kit that you have also comes with the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. Now that's the one that's super tiny, so a little bit hard to tell with it, but you can at least smell it and feel it with the sample. It's very popular. Again, this is one of our best-selling products. It's in our Signature Collection. This one is a jojoba oil base, so jojoba very closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural sebum. We say as a company, it's a great choice for dry and mature skin. I personally love jojoba oil, and I think it's a great choice for all skin types.
Customer: Okay.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: I'm very congestion prone and I still would choose jojoba. I love it.
What else with this one? This one has goji in it, a powerful antioxidant. It again, is that kind of more floral, very vetiver-heavy scent profile. This one has plantago in it and a bunch of different seed oils. It's got broccoli seed oil, chia seed oil, and carrot seed oil. The chia for example, is rich in zinc and vitamin B. So it's just a very nourishing, very restorative moisturizer ideal for dry and mature skin.
Alright, so after you would apply your Anti-Aging Serum, then you would apply your Anti-Aging Facial Oil over top, or if you were using the Activated Night Serum at night, then you would apply this over top.
And I think this would probably be a good choice for you. As far as other options, you could take a look at our Rejuvenating Facial Oil. This is in the Wild Alchemy Collection. This one is our most potent, our most active facial oil. So for some people like Grace with really sensitive skin, she doesn't love this one. But I think it could be a good choice for you.
Another one that we can talk about that would be an option is our brand new Restorative Facial Cream. This is our very first cream moisturizer, which is exciting. We have always only had oil, and we just launched this cream, I believe last week. And I just got mine, and I've been using it, and I do really love it. We've always held that oils are superior to creams. Really, we still believe this as oils are the most pure form of moisture, but we wanted to create this product for our customers who prefer a cream or lotion moisturizer, so that they had that option, but we wanted to do it in a way that upheld all of our standards. So it's really exciting that we were able to create this product. I'll show you the texture. It's not super heavy. It feels fairly lightweight. It's good for all skin types. It can be used on its own. You could just cleanse, tone, and then apply this cream. Or you can mix or layer it. So you could use your serum first and then apply the cream over top. You could mix the cream with a facial oil or layer with an oil. It’s very versatile and it’s great to just kind of play and find what feels best to you.

What's kind of cool about it, well one thing, is that it's both hydrating and moisturizing. All skin needs both oil and water to function properly. So that is why we recommend using a combination of hydrating products and moisturizing products in your routine. And so your hydrators are your toning mist and your serum, and then your moisturizer is your facial oil. So we've always had that kind of separation. Now with this product, it's kind of cool because it's both a hydrator and a moisturizer in one. It’s a hellichrysum hydrosol base with a reishi and tremella aloe blend and then its got the butter blend with the murumuru butter, the shea, and the andiroba oil.
And it really is packed full of activated ingredients. It’s got pineapple ceramides, lingonberry stem cells, apple exosomes. And then we used a fermented coconut as a preservative, which is cool because it is working to preserve the product, but it is also beneficial for the skin. Most creams on the market are mostly water, vegetable wax, and a little bit of oil. You are not typically getting this high level of activated ingredients.
The scent profile on this is pretty light. It's not overpowering. You can smell the propolis in there. The davana, which is a little bit herbaceous.
Okay. So that would be a pretty full routine for you. You did mention the under eye area, so you incorporate an eye treatment product. We have two.
We have the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum and the Anti-Aging Eye Cream. Both are excellent. I tend to, if you're going to choose one or the other, I tend to recommend the eye cream. This is my personal favorite. The eye serum is excellent, but it is a serum. So it is a hydrator. It’s that thinner consistency, that smaller molecule. For me, on its own it is just not enough for me. I need the moisture that the eye cream provides. You can use them together though and either alternate, using one in the morning and the other in the evening. Or you can layer them. Apply the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum then the Anti-Aging Eye Cream on top.
The eye cream has damas rose plant cells, which are great for the look of fine lines and crows feet. It’s got a cucumber distillate, so nice and cooling, great for the look of puffiness. Licorice root can be helpful for brightening.
Then the eye serum has the pineapple ceramides and the sake peptides. The Sake peptides can be helpful for retexturizing the undereye area to reduce the appearance of darkness under the eyes.
So like I said, both are great. If you're going to choose just one or the other, or if you're just starting out with an eye product, I would probably choose the eye cream.
What else do we have? Did you want to share anything, Carrie?
Customer: Yes. Thank you. I'm wondering about when you said while your skin is still damp from the toner, then you put the serum on and I wonder, after the serum, should I wait to apply the oil or can that go on right away?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Great question. You can do it either way. Typically, you might want to wait a bit after you put on your serum to put on the oil. But it doesn't have to be long, you know, it could be like 30 seconds or something. You don't have to stand there for five minutes and wait for it to fully dry, you know?
Sometimes I even like to mist my toner, apply my serum, then mist again and apply my oil.
Customer: Okay. And the serum does not go right under the eyes. Right?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Yeah, I mean typically we would recommend keeping it below the orbital bone when you're applying your serum.
Customer: Okay. Thank you. And I wonder if, the Wild Fruit Serum, is that the best product to take care of dark spots?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Yeah, I didn’t touch on that one. I was trying to not overwhelm you guys with options, but it is excellent. I do love this serum. It is in our Wild Alchemy Collection, and this is an excellent one for addressing signs of aging as well as brightening the look of skin. It's got apple extract in it, which is rich in vitamin C and malic acid. It also has Kakadu plum in it. The kakadu plum is another really potent source of vitamin C. It also contains phenolic acid and phenolic acid behaves on the skin similar to an alpha hydroxy acid. Alpha hydroxy acids kind of dissolve the “glue” that holds the top layer of skin cells, so it has an exfoliating effect on the skin. And then also this one has a really dense infusion of plant stem cells. This one has Madonna Lilly stem cells and there are about 1.5 million active plant stem cells in each bottle. So that combination really makes this a stand out product. The scent profile for this one is more fruity, as you might guess. So yes, that is an excellent choice.
Any other questions now that we threw in another serum for you?
Customer: I know you mentioned, I think it's the facial cream that has oat in it. Does anything else have oat in it?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: The facial cream has the oat kernel extract. I am not positive if any of our other products contain oat, but you can always peek at our ingredient glossary, and then like I said on each product page you can check the full ingredient list.
Any other questions you guys? No? All right. How are we feeling? Are we feeling complete? Is there anything else that you want me to touch on, any other products?
Customer: Actually, there is one more question. And you're doing a great job, Emily. What about little tiny red spider veins on my cheek? Is there a product that would help with that?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Those may be broken capillaries, which are hard to address with product use. You need a laser treatment to remove, but I would just lean into those products that are designed for sensitive skin and minimizing the appearance of redness.
Customer: Okay. Thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: Yeah, of course. Good questions, you guys.
Customer: And how long do the products last?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care in-house esthetician: It varies, but it does say on our website on each of the product pages when to reorder, which can help to give you an idea of how long it will last.
Alright, you guys, any other questions? Are we feeling good?
Okay. Well if you think of other questions that you didn't get to ask, you can always email our customer care team. I hope you all have an awesome afternoon and thanks so much for joining and hanging out with us and for all of your questions.
