Aging can be a beautiful process full of self-exploration and appreciation. We love our lines for the stories they tell, but there are lifestyle choices we can make to prevent premature aging and ease the process as we grow.
We aren’t here to turn back time. And we’ll be forthcoming, we know some people aren’t crazy about using the phrase “anti-aging”. But our philosophy on skin care is that as we age, the best thing we can do for our skin is feed it natural ingredients that deeply nourish and support the specific needs of mature skin.
This is truly what anti-aging means to us: preventing factors that accelerate the aging process and leveraging techniques aligned with a natural lifestyle to bring out our inner glow. Dry skin, under-nourished skin, damage from environmental stressors, sun damage, and stress can all speed up our skin’s natural processes and lead to less-than-radiant skin. We don’t have to let that happen.
You see, on the flip side of that, treating your skin with care by using all-natural ingredients can protect against environmental stressors, lock in your skin’s moisture layer, and fortify your skin with vitamins and minerals. And an added bonus? Most of these natural ingredients work to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a bouncy, rejuvenated look.
But we don’t just want to sell you on skin care. As a company that champions a holistic, wellness-oriented lifestyle, we care about treating your skin from the inside out. That’s why we pieced together some of our favorite tips for you to support the aging process, beyond simply topical tips and products.
Anti-Aging Tips
Anti-aging care in its best form is prevention. Our skin has a way of remembering what we do to it at a young age—taking care of our skin with an effective anti-aging skin care routine in all stages of life is the key to firmer, younger looking skin later on.
It’s important to keep our skin nourished and care for it from the inside out. Here is our definitive guide to anti-aging: natural, organic tips to help you look and feel your best at any age.
Foods and Diet
What we put into our body affects everything from our mood, to our energy, to our skin. Often times, diet is forgotten when discussing skin care since the effects may not seem as direct as topical solutions. The right foods can help replenish, renew, and protect your skin, while the wrong food can speed up the aging process.
Organic, fresh fruits and vegetables can help hydrate your skin, protect it from sun damage, and limit skin damage from harmful molecules known as free agents. Read more here to learn how you can support an anti-aging routine using foods like pomegranates and green tea.
Foods that are processed and less nutrient dense can spike your blood sugar, potentially leading to wrinkles or acne. Read more about sugar induced aging (and how to delay it!) here.
Supplements and Vitamins
Caring for our skin from the inside out is one of the most crucial, preventative measures we can take. That’s why, along the same line as food, the right supplements and vitamins can support an anti-aging regimen.
Most components that keep our skin looking young, bouncy and bright are produced within our body naturally. However, in our mid-twenties, production levels of collagen decreases significantly. By adding collagen to your diet, you are giving your body the boost it may need to keep your skin elastic.
Vitamin C supplements also help with this anti-aging technique because your body needs vitamin C to naturally produce collagen.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C plays a crucial role in the anti-aging solution. Not only does taking vitamin C internally protect against sun damage and free radicals, but it also helps your body regulate cortisol, the stress hormone. When your body consistently functions under stress it can trigger premature aging at the cellular level, meaning fine lines and looser skin.
Vitamin C is also a key component in collagen production within the body. For your skin to maintain its elasticity and tightness it needs to be able to create collagen.
Externally, a serum packed with vitamin C-rich ingredients can protect against environmental stressors and leave your skin glowing.
Herbs
Anti-aging herbs have been used as a natural remedy by many cultures, passed down through generations. Utilizing herbs in your routine is inexpensive and easily accessible, as you can purchase most of these at your local health foods store. Many herbs, like ginkgo biloba, edelweiss, and gotu kola, possess high levels of antioxidants which reduce the appearance of aging by protecting our skin from environmental stressors. free radicals and skin damage.
Other herbs, like rhodiola and rosehip seed oil, provide our skin with the vitamin C it needs to produce collagen and keep our skin’s appearance tight and firm. Horsetail acts in a similar manner, preventing the look of saggy or dull skin, because of its high levels of silicon.
How do you incorporate these ingredients into your skin care routine? Look for products made with natural ingredients that utilize these or take them internally in tea or tincture form. If you’re the DIY type, infuse them in an oil to create your own homemade moisturizer.
Ingredients
Aside from herbs, there is a vast array of other natural ingredients that help protect and rejuvenate your skin. We believe the Earth holds everything we need to nourish our bodies, so all of our ingredients are 100% natural. We’ve created anti-aging skin care products that are effective and pure to keep your skin healthy and beautiful.
Some of our favorite natural anti-aging ingredients include the hydration of shea butter and passion fruit oil, the antioxidants of acai and pumpkin seed oil, the amino acids of goji berry, the vitamins of red raspberry seed oil, and the fatty acids of flaxseed oil. These create a balance that nourishes your skin completely and can help with the appearance of uneven skin tone.

Facial
Building an anti-aging self care ritual into your weekly routine is one of our favorite ways to ensure you’re giving your skin the specific care it needs (while simultaneously building some me-time into your schedule!) The best way to do this is through a facial.
A renewing facial is not only soothing and relaxing, but can it can also be a part of your anti-aging solution. Facials are essential for healthy, glowing skin because they help even skin’s appearance, cleanse deeply, and rejuvenate the skin.
- First, remove any dirt or impurities with warm water and a gentle, hydrating cleanser. Its important to use a cleanser that doesn’t strip your skin and leaves it feeling soft.
- Next, exfoliate with a gentle scrub and steam.
- To steam, bring a pot of water to a boil, and then remove from heat. When the steam is a comfortable heat, drape a towel over your head and hold your face a generous distance over the pot for 10-15 minutes. For an extra luxurious experience, place some calming herbs or a few drops of your favorite essential oil in the boiling water.
- Now you’re ready for the face mask. Choose a mask based on your skin type. If you have oily skin, use an oil free clay purifying mask. If you have dry skin, find a coconut oil or seed butter based moisturizing mask. Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes.
- Once you’ve removed the mask with warm water and a washcloth, you can tone and treat your skin, followed by a nice moisturizer, made with hyaluronic acid or another humectant, designed to pull moisture from the skin’s surroundings.
Treatments
Beyond a DIY facial, there are a number of natural treatments you can seek out at your local holistic spa that can support your rejuvenating routine.
From facial massages to acupuncture, there are many ways to revitalize the skin and slow signs of aging. Most of these treatments focus on relaxing the muscles and bringing blood flow to the face. An old eastern practice, gua sha, does this by using jade or crystal tools to direct blood flow and release muscle tension.
Chemical peels are another popular treatment. While you may want to avoid chemical peels in conjunction with a non-toxic lifestyle, there are several organic, herbal, or enzyme peels that work just as well.
Anti-Aging for Sensitive Skin
For those with sensitive skin, it can feel difficult to find products that keep your skin looking young and feeling nourished, without irritating your skin.
But just because you have sensitive skin doesn’t mean you have to miss out on rejuvenating products. Each of us react differently to certain ingredients, so it’s crucial to make sure you’re looking for an anti-aging solution that is copesthetic with what your skin needs.
That’s why so many people with sensitive skin have found solace with products made with natural ingredients: when you turn to organic ingredients, you can find ingredients that not only work with your skin, but also protect it. Sacha inchi oil and calendula both have components that protect your skin from environmental stressors. Perilla oil, pomegranate seed oil, and lavender soothe while purifying and infusing the skin with antioxidants. Read more on anti-aging for sensitive skin here.
Hair Care
Reducing the appearance of aging isn’t limited to skin care—keeping your hair feeling healthy and strong is also crucial. Not to mention, if you have healthy hair, that’s probably a sign that you’re healthy and taking in the right vitamins and nutrients, and internal health what’s most important!
There are many aids in anti-aging hair care. Much like our skin, our hair is affected by our decrease in collagen as we age. By finding natural sources of collagen to add to our diets, we can minimize hair loss and loss of hair color as we age.
To boost natural collagen production, you can incorporate vitamin C into your diet, or try a collagen supplement from an organic source. Vitamin C plays a crucial role in collagen production within the body, making it vital to any anti-aging hair care regimen.
Externally, you can treat your hair with a homemade revitalizing hair mask—more on how to make that here.

Anti-Aging for Hands
Another area outside facial skin care we want to pay attention to is hand care.
Our hands tend to show our age most because we use them constantly and neglect them when it comes to skin care. There are ways to protect and revive your hands to give them a younger appearance.
Avoid soaps with synthetic fragrances and chemicals, avoid hot air hand dryers, and be sure to exfoliate and moisturize. Find a moisturizer formulated with hyaluronic acid to pull hydration from its surroundings.
An easy way to remember to nourish your hands is to incorporate them into your facial skin care routine. Whenever you exfoliate or moisturize your face, include your hands as well, for softer, younger looking skin. Read ore on hand care here.

Anti-Aging Routine
Prevention is key, and the best way to build mindful, effective skin care into your life is through creating a consistent routine. This is important at any age: anti-aging starts with taking care of your skin all throughout life, not just when the fine lines begin to deepen and the dark spots show up.
We’ve developed an anti-aging routine with 6 steps, focusing on skin renewal and rejuvenation.
Each portion of your routine should work in harmony with the others to bring you brighter and tighter skin.
Just to note, as with all skin care, your anti-aging skin routine can be customized for your skin type and specific skin needs. You’ll see the best results when you’re listening to your body and nourishing your skin in the way it responds best to.
1. Cleanse
The start of any skin care routine should be making sure you’ve removed all dirt, sweat, pollution and impurities from the surface of your skin so you’re starting with a clean slate. Choose a natural cleanser that is right for your skin. If you tend to be more oily look for a gel-based cleanser and if you have sensitive or dry skin find a cream or oil-based cleanser.
2. Exfoliate
Before you treat your skin with any skin care products, you want to make sure to thoroughly exfoliate your face to ensure that your treatment is reaching and nourishing your healthy cells. This will brighten your skin’s appearance if it has been feeling or looking dull. A general rule of thumb is to only exfoliate about 3-5 times a week to avoid irritation and over-exfoliation. Use a gentle exfoliation so you don’t create micro-tears in the skin.
