Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: We recommend a four-step routine for pretty much everyone. So for morning and evening, the routine that we recommend is cleansing, toning, using a serum, and then a facial oil or a moisturizer. All of our facial moisturizers are oils.
And I always like to tell people that is the basic routine that we recommend. I think it's great if you can customize your routine based on what works best for your skin and also what works best for your lifestyle. So if you're somebody who is brand new to skin care and you currently have no routine, you're probably not going to jump into a six-step routine that takes you 30 minutes morning and evening.
So in that case maybe just start really simple with just a cleanser and an oil. And then you can always build from there, adding in your other products as you go. So we'll start out with cleansing. Before I even jump into cleansing, I want to go over our collections really quickly.
So we have within our line, we have a few different collections. The two main collections that we have are the Signature Collection and the Wild Alchemy Collection. All of the Signature Collection products have tan labeling. And then our Wild Alchemy Collection is our luxury line and all of those products have black and gold labeling.
And so the difference basically is that our Signature Collection products include many of our best selling products, products that have been around since we got started. And then our Wild Alchemy Collection, our luxury line. These products contain higher levels of activated ingredients. They also contain more exotic ingredients. A lot of times the crafting process, the way that these products are made is a little bit more laborious as well. So that's kind of the difference between the two collections. We do also have our Essentials Collection, which I like to usually mention quickly as well.
The Essentials Collection is just two products. It's the Renew Facial Cream Cleanser and the Radiate Facial Oil. And this collection is actually offered at a lower price point than any of our other products. And the reason for that is just that these two products are very simple formulas. They don't contain our herb infusions.
So again, the crafting process, the way that they're made is more simple. They are still great products though. I actually love the Radiate Oil and I know that Grace loves it as well. And they can be a good choice if you're more sensitive because they are more simple or again if you're just getting started with a skin care routine. They can also be good for maybe a teen who's just trying to get started on a little routine.
But those are our three main collections. So now back to cleansers. So whether your routine consists of two steps or ten steps, you always are going to start with cleansing. So cleansing just removes makeup and impurities. A thorough cleanse is going to help to prep the skin so that it can better absorb the treatment products that you're applying afterwards.
In our Signature Collection, we have our Aloe Herb Cleanser and our Citrus Mint Cleanser. The Aloe Herb Cleanser, is our best-selling cleanser. People love that one! That one is great for all skin types. So I often tell people if they feel overwhelmed or they're not really sure where to start, this can be a good place to start because you just can't really go wrong with it.
It's a creamy pH-balanced cleanser. All of our cleansers are pH-balanced. Your skin's pH is around 4. 5 to a 5. 5 on the pH scale and all of our cleansers are about a 5. 5 to a 5. 6, which is printed on our packaging. A pH-balanced cleanser is just going to ensure that you're not stripping your skin of its natural oils. You’re not disrupting your skin's natural protective barrier, your acid mantle. Our cleansers also don't contain any harsh surfactants. A lot of conventional drugstore cleansers tend to be more alkaline and they have high foaming properties because they contain things like lauryl sulfates. We use a sodium lauryl glucose carboxylate as our surfactant, which is a safe, low-foaming surfactant. And even though it sounds very fancy, it's really just saponified oils, plant starches, and sugars. But back to the Aloe Herb Cleanser. So that one is great for anybody. It’s a cream cleanser, and it’s pH balanced. It contains, of course, aloe vera which is rich in vitamins and minerals. It's rich in phytonutrients and enzymes. It also contains some naturally occurring saponins that act as mild cleansing agents on the skin. This one has got calendula, so it's really soothing to the skin. It's got coconut oil which gives it that really nice creamy texture.
This one has got some lemon essential oil, so it's purifying and brightening and it gives it a really nice, uplifting scent. So that's the Aloe Herb. The other one in our Signature Collection is the Citrus Mint Cleanser. I don't know that anybody in this group based on the concerns mentioned would really choose this one, but this is a purifying gel cleanser. So more for normal to oily skin if you are concerned with congestion, excess oil, or anything like that, this would be a good choice.
In our Wild Alchemy Collection, we have two cleansers. The Restorative Cleansing Oil and the Phytonutrient Cleanser.
These are my two personal favorites. So the Restorative Cleansing Oil, this one is as the name suggests an oil cleanser. So you use it a little bit differently than a traditional cleanser where you would dampen your skin, massage the cleanser in, and then rinse it clean. This one, you apply it to dry skin. So dry face, dry hands, and you massage it in, really thoroughly massaging it in. And then you can just rinse clean, so you can use it on its own as your cleanser, or you can use it as the first step in a double cleanse routine. And if you were going to do that, you would massage it in, rinse, and then just follow with whatever cleanser you like, whether it be Phytonutrient, Aloe Herb, whichever you want.
This one is great for all skin types. So for dry and mature skin, it is very nourishing. It leaves a little bit of an oil on the skin. If you don't like that, you can always remove it with a warm washcloth or something to get a little bit more “clean” feeling. But for dry and mature skin, it can be kind of nice.
I even have more oily congestion prone skin. And I still like it. For oilier skin types, the oil cleansing can be good as well because like attracts like, so it's going to help to break down excess oil and congestion in the skin. Again, that doesn't seem like a big concern for this group. But I'll just mention that, so this one has got jojoba oil in it, which very closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural oil.
This one also has castor oil in it. It's got tea tree, which is purifying. This one has Manuka oil. I am Manuka obsessed. And Manuka is going to be deep cleansing and calming to the skin. So this is a great one. Love it. Then the other one is the Phytonutrient Cleanser. So this is the other one in our Wild Alchemy Collection.
This one is also a cream cleanser, like the Aloe Herb Cleanser. But I would say it's a little bit richer. The texture is a little bit thicker, more of an almost fatty texture because it has mango seed butter in it. So it gives it kind of that thicker, richer texture. This one also has coconut oil in it.
It's got acai in it to give it an antioxidant component. It contains our signature serum blend as well. This one has apple extract in it, which is rich in malic acid and vitamin C and is great for brightening the skin. If brightening the appearance of dark spots is a concern of yours this can be a really good choice.
And I like to tell people with any cleanser, but especially this one, to really take your time as you cleanse, and thoroughly massage the product into your skin. Especially this one with that apple extract in there, you want to let it be on the skin for a minute before you just, you know, quickly rinse it down the drain.
So those are all the cleansers and cleansing in general. Did anybody have questions about cleansers or cleansing? No?
Okay. So the next step in your routine after you cleanse would be toning. So toning is going to just help to complete the cleansing process. It's going to offer a dose of hydration and skin-supporting nutrients.
Traditionally a lot of toners were made to rebalance the skin's pH after you cleanse, but because all of our cleansers are pH-balanced, that's not necessary. But again, like I said, they're just going to offer a dose of hydration and skin-supporting nutrients. We have three different toners in the line.
We have the Neroli Toning Mist and the Rosemary Toning Mist in the Signature Collection. And then in the Wild Alchemy Collection, we have the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. The Neroli Toning Mist is our most popular toning mist. People love that one. It's great for all skin types, especially normal, dry, and mature skin.
It's a very simple formula. It's an aloe vera juice base. It has, of course, neroli in it. Neroli is derived from fresh orange blossoms, so it has a really lovely scent. Part of why I think people love that one. And then it's got some aspen bark extract in it too, which acts as a natural preservative and is also a natural source of salicins.
We've got the Rosemary Toning Mist in the Signature Collection. This one I won't go too deep into because again, I don't think it sounds like the best fit for this group. But this one is going to be more purifying. It contains more purifying herbs for normal, combination, oily, or congestion-prone skin. This is actually my personal favorite, but I am prone to congestion. And then lastly, we have the Botanical Hydration Mist With Immortelle. This one is in our Wild Alchemy Collection. This one is a hydrosol. So the other two are an aloe vera juice base.
The Botanical Hydration Mist is a hydrosol. A hydrosol is a watery runoff that you get when you create an essential oil through steam distillation. And it gives it kind of just this soft texture and it makes it maybe a little bit more like moisturizing. This one is especially great for sensitive skin types because it does have a blend of four different types of chamomile. It also has some rose in it. So really soothing to the skin as well. This one has frankincense, which is known to tone, tighten, and rejuvenate the skin. As well as immortelle, of course, or life everlasting flowers which are a potent antioxidant. So that's the Botanical. That one I would say may be the best choice for sensitive skin types and it also contains the most “anti-aging” ingredients, with that immortelle and the frankincense in there.
That one, the scent profile is more herbal, whereas the neroli has that kind of sweeter scent. And then the rosemary, of course, smells like rosemary.
So those are the toning mists. The toning mist is pretty straightforward. After you cleanse, you rinse, and then you mist your toning mist over your face and neck.
I like to apply my serum and my facial oil when my skin is still slightly damp from my toning mist. I feel like this helps with absorption. I believe that our packaging says to mist, let it dry, and then apply your serum. Like I said, I kind of disagree with that.
I always like to apply my serum when my skin is still slightly damp from my toning mist. And your toning mist provides hydration to the skin. So, there's the difference between dehydrated skin, which is water-dry skin, and dry skin, which is oil-dry skin. So your toning mist and your serum are your hydrators. Your facial oil is your moisturizer. Using the combination of hydrating products with moisturizing products is going to help to provide optimum moisture balance in your skin. Which just helps to create healthy, resilient skin by supporting your skin's natural barrier.
So those are toners and toning mists. Questions about toners? They’re sort of straightforward.
Customer: Can you alternate? So I've used your products a lot before. I haven't in the last year and a half, because I just, I was traveling; I am a travel nurse so I was everywhere and I stopped using your products after a while because I just kept moving, but now I'm staying put where I'm at and that's why I've come back to you. I'm in a completely different environment now. I lived in Southern California and now I live in the mountains of Colorado. The Neroli is my favorite, but can I, I don't know, can you alternate mists? Say the Immortelle and the Neroli? Or do you not?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes, definitely. You can alternate. You could use one in the morning, one in the evening, or do every other day or whatever you like. Then you're just, you know, incorporating the benefits of both the ingredients into your routine.
Customer: Okay. That would be actually, that's a good idea. Yeah.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: We get that question a lot too with serums because we have so many different serums. So it's the same. If you want to use two different serums then we recommend just using one in the morning and one in the evening or switching off days. Any other toner questions?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Alright, perfect. So the next step in your routine is serums. I feel like serums and oils are where things get a little bit confusing just because we have so many. So hopefully I can make it less confusing. But your serums, as I said, they're excellent hydrators for treating dehydration in the skin or lack of water. Also, serums contain high levels of activated ingredients, so they're usually very concentrated. Which allows you to really customize your routine to kind of target and treat whatever your specific skin concerns are. They are a smaller molecule size than a facial oil, so they allow those activated ingredients to penetrate more deeply into the skin as well.
And like I said, we have several different serums in our Signature Collection. We have the Anti-Aging Serum, the Citrus Stem Cell Serum, and the Probiotic Serum. The Anti-Aging Serum is the first one that we'll talk about. That one is our best-selling serum-people love this one. It’s probably our best-selling product. This one is good for all skin types. I like to refer to this one as kind of a daily dose of overall skin nutrition. It is very antioxidant-rich. So this one's got buddleja extract and life-everlasting flowers. It's soothing. It's got some rose in it. This one is also very deeply hydrating.
It has hyaluronic acid in it. We use a non-GMO vegetable sourced hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant that binds water to the skin. It actually holds 1000 times its weight in water. So it's considered a super hydrator. So it's going to really deeply hydrate the skin, which is going to help to kind of plump the skin, which will help to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Again, kind of similar to the Aloe Herb Cleanser, I tell people that if you're not really sure where to start or you are feeling overwhelmed, this serum can be a good choice. If you've ever gotten one of our starter kits or trial kits, you've probably used this one along with the Aloe Herb Cleanser.
Then we have our Citrus Stem Cell Serum. I don't think I have that one in my little bag of goodies, but that one is also in our Signature Collection.
That one, again, it's good for all skin types, but it's especially good for thicker textured skin, more resilient skin, or skin that has had a lot of exposure to the elements/sun. That one contains a brightening trio, a brightening combination of amla berry, which is very rich in vitamin C, licorice root, and uva ursi.
Those are the lightening and brightening ingredients. So if minimizing the look of dark spots is a concern of yours, this can be a good choice. Licorice root is often used in natural products as an alternative to hydroquinone. This one also contains citrus-derived stem cells.
We use plant stem cells in a lot of our products, which help to provide proteins, peptides, and amino acids that help to strengthen the skin.
And then lastly, in our Signature Collection, we have the Probiotic Serum With Tremella. The Probiotic Serum is great for all skin types again, but especially for sensitive skin or skin that is out of balance.
This one has a probiotic ferment in it that can help to eliminate impurities on the surface of the skin and it can help to balance the skin's pH. This one also has some olive leaf extract. It's got astaxanthin, which is a really powerful antioxidant, and then the tremella mushroom extract.
Tremella mushroom extract acts very similar in the skin to hyaluronic acid, so it is really deeply hydrating the skin. It's got moisture-binding beta-glucans in it. So that's the probiotic. I always like to tell people, I really like the way this one smells, but some people, like Grace, who uses this product think that it smells like dirt, ha. So I like to give people a fair warning, but like I said, I like the way it smells, so maybe I just like the way dirt smells. I don't know.
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: Let me just preface that by saying I also really don't like mushrooms in general. So, anything about mushrooms is just not my jam. It smells like mushrooms, so therefore. I don't like mushrooms. But I do use it, so it's not that bad. It's great.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So those are the three in the Signature Collection. Then in our Wild Alchemy Collection, we have a few. I think I'm actually going to start with the Activated CBD Serum, and I'm going to let Grace take that one because I really need a tissue. I'll be right back.
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: Oh, poor Emily and her little cold. I, so I'll let her kind of talk about the formulation of CBD because it's really, really fascinating or not CBD, but the CBD serum, but the main things that it benefits is it's really for all skin types, but it's really helpful for anybody who has sensitive skin or any skin condition that needs a little more support to kind of soothe and calm down the skin before applying your facial oil or anything like that. Which it does, it's fantastic. I have really sensitive skin. I have extremely dry skin. So there's just a lot going on. The CBD serum has been extremely helpful with not only soothing and calming when it gets really irritated, but it also just kind of helps minimize any temporary redness in my skin as well. So it's really fantastic. And it's, the hydration is just insane. The morning after you put it on, if you put it on in the evening, you will feel glossy, you will feel glowy, the hydration is just fantastic. So it's a good one. It's really, really nice.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I love that description, glossy. I'm going to steal that. We should put that in one of our emails. Yeah. So the Activated CBD Serum, I’m sure Grace already said this, but it's very calming. For this one, we partnered with Ojai Energetics when we created the serum. They are really a pioneer and a leader in the CBD space. And so along with the CBD, it's also got tremella mushrooms in it. It's got hyaluronic too. So with the tremella and the hyaluronic, this one is very hydrating, like Grace said. It's got a little bit thicker texture, like a little bit creamier texture than some of our other serums that are kind of more aqueous. This one has, I'm trying to think what else. I think it's got mangosteen, and some black cumin seed oil in there. And the CBD, kind of another thing that sets it apart a little bit, is that it contains both a water-soluble and a fat-soluble CBD, which is unique with a CBD product because the water-soluble CBD is absorbed more quickly. So it has more of an instant effect and then the fat-soluble CBD is absorbed more slowly, over time so it has more of a cumulative effect on the skin.
So that is a great one for all skin types, but especially sensitive. Then what next? Wild fruit. I forgot Wild Fruit. So the Wild Fruit Serum is the other one in our Wild Alchemy Collection. I personally love this serum. That one I like to say, it's our do-it-all serum, because it's hydrating, it's brightening, it's anti-aging. It's got apple extract in it. So it's the same apple extract that's in the Phytonutrient Cleanser, with vitamin C and malic acid to brighten. That one has knotweed in it, which is rich in resveratrol. It's got kakadu plum. So kakadu plum is another very potent source of vitamin C.
Kakadu plum also contains phenolic acid and phenolic acid behaves on the skin similar to an alpha hydroxy acid. Alpha hydroxy acids kind of dissolve the glue that holds the top layer of skin cells. So it can help with resurfacing and improving texture and tone. So, that’s the Wild Fruit. I'm trying to think what else is in that one. There's copper-infused water. That one has Madonna lily plant cells. So like we talked about, we use a lot of those plant cells in our products. This one has a really dense infusion of the Madonna lily plant cells. It's about 1. 5 million plant cells in each little bottle.
So I love that serum. I would say, the Wild Fruit Serum and the Activated CBD Serum are a little bit more kind of all-encompassing, whereas the serums in our Signature Collection are a little bit more targeted.
Then two other things in this, serum conversation. We have our Concentrated Boosting Elixirs and our Activated Night Serum.
The Activated Night Serum is our most recent serum launch. This one has got a bioactive A-Complex in it. Sorry, I was blanking for a minute. We used the bioactive A-Complex because we wanted to have a product that contained an alternative to a retinol. So, retinol is sort of the gold standard in anti-aging.
But, Vitamin A derivatives just really are not great for your health. They can be harmful to reproductive health. They're not great for your skin's health. If you're using them over an extended period of time, they can start to thin the skin. They can also cause a lot of hypersensitivity and irritation in the skin.
So we wanted an alternative to that. So that's why we have our bioactive A- Complex. This ingredient is actually derived from algae. So it's a completely safe ingredient. It has a similar effect on the skin as retinol does, with that resurfacing, retexturizing effect on the skin. And then we've combined this bioactive A with really soothing and calming ingredients like lavender and blue chamomile.
So it's a really nice balance of that activated bioactive A, with the soothing and calming lavender and blue chamomile that we've got in this serum. This one, as the name suggests, is only to be used in the evening and you always want to use it with an SPF during the day, which is not a joke. I speak from experience. Don't forget your SPF.
And then lastly in this serum category, we have our Concentrated Boosting Elixirs. These elixirs come in a set of three. The idea behind these is kind of similar to the Activated Night Serum, we wanted to offer a clean, healthy alternative to a lot of these popular activated ingredients that you find on the market, like retinol, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C.
So that is kind of why we came out with these. These are really kind of a fun, unique product. People often ask, do I need to have the elixirs in my routine? No, you do not. They're just kind of an extra. They allow you to really boost, hence the name, the level of activated ingredients in your routine.
They also allow you to customize your routine even further. So the set of three comes with Hydrate. It comes with Brighten and it comes with Revitalize. The Hydrate is a hyaluronic acid with vegan collagen pre-peptides. We already talked about hyaluronic acid to hydrate, and then the vegan collagen pre-peptides are going to help to strengthen the skin.
The Brighten is a pure vitamin C with sea buckthorn. The vitamin C that we use in this elixir is tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate or THDA. It's a mouthful. But the reason that we chose that particular vitamin C is because it's a very stable form of vitamin C. A lot of vitamin C's on the market, if you go buy a vitamin C product at the drugstore for example and you open it, if it’s not a stable form of vitamin C, it’s going to go rancid quickly, and then it's not effective. So this THDA is a very stable form of vitamin C. It's also a very non-irritating form of vitamin C. It has a pH of 7. So that is why we chose this one. I'm trying to think if there's anything else about that one.
It's got the Seabuckthorn in there paired with that vitamin C. And then the Revitalize, this one is the bioactive A-Complex, which we just talked about. It's the same ingredient as the Activated Night Serum. And this one is paired with astaxanthin. Again, a powerful antioxidant. To use these elixirs, you never want to apply them directly to the skin because they are very concentrated. You always want to mix them. They come with this little dropper top and you would pump your serum, whatever serum you're using, pump your serum into the palm of your hand, and then you drop one to three drops of the elixir into your serum, mix it up and apply it.
And you can kind of play around with them. You can mix and match. So maybe in the morning, you want to mix two drops of Brighten and one drop of Hydrate and mix that up. Or maybe in the evening, you want to do one drop of Hydrate and two drops of Revitalize. So you can kind of play around and mix and match.
We do recommend using the Revitalize only in the evening with an SPF during the day. And we don't recommend mixing the Brighten and the Revitalize in the same application. So you wouldn't mix one drop of Brighten and two drops of Revitalize in the same application, you would use one in the morning and one in the evening.
So those are the elixirs and all the serums. So questions about serums. Oh. That's a lot to think about. I know. There are so many. It is a lot of information and a lot of products.
It's okay if there are no questions. Just checking in.
Customer: You can just get a couple and kind of like the toner, mix them?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh, yeah. Well, a lot of times we have so many options, and people are like, well, I want that, but I also want this. So it's a great way to kind of incorporate all of the things by alternating, you know?
So after your serum, then you would apply your facial oil.
Customer: I'm sorry. I have a quick question. So what's the serum? And I know you said the, the Brighten and the Revitalize, there's those two elixirs. You know, the two you said you don't want to mix. What if you had the Citrus Stem Cell Serum? Would you still want to add some kind of elixir to that serum or not because it's got the vitamin C, the Citrus Stem Cell One.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: So are you wondering if you can mix the Citrus Stem Cell with the Revitalize?
Customer: Yeah. Would you not, because it's just too much or?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes. It should be fine to mix the Revitalize with the Citrus Stem Cell Serum because the Citrus Stem Cell Serum is rich in vitamin C from the amla berry, but it's not a pure vitamin C. So actually, that serum pairs really nicely with the Brighten elixir because it's the pure vitamin C that you are adding to the vitamin C rich serum. So It’s a really nice combination. And if you wanted to mix the Citrus Stem Cell Serum in the evening with the Revitalize, I would think that would be fine as well, because like I said, even though it's rich in vitamin C, it's not a pure vitamin C.
Customer: Okay, thank you.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: But actually, Grace, will you make a note for me to just double-check on that? If I find out otherwise, I will email you. Okay. Awesome. Any other serum questions?
Cool. So yes, after you apply your serum, then you would apply your facial oil. All of our moisturizers are facial oils. And the reason that we've chosen oils is just because oils are more pure. They don't require any fillers or waxes to be used.
They're also more easily absorbed by the skin. In our Signature Collection, we have our Herbal Facial Oils-the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal and Combination Skin, the Herbal Facial Oil for Oily Skin, and the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin. I tend to not go too deep into these just because they are sort of self-explanatory because they're named for the skin condition that they are made for.
All three of those herbal facial oils are a grapeseed oil base. Grapeseed oil is a very light-textured skin-balancing oil. It's rich in vitamin E and omega 6. The Herbal Facial Oil for Oily skin contains a more purifying herb blend in addition to the grapeseed oil. So it's got white willow bark, neem, and black cumin seed.
The Herbal Facial Oil for Normal and Combination Skin has got some echinacea, chamomile to soothe, and goji in there as well. And then the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin, that one has no added essential oils in it. But it's got a combination of a bunch of different omega-rich oils like Sacha Inchi Oil and Camellia Seed Oil that really nourish the skin.
Then the other one that is in our Signature Collection is the Anti-Aging Facial Oil. So this one is very popular. This is one of our best-selling products along with the Anti-Aging Serum. Again, if you've ever tried one of our starter kits, you've probably tried this one.
Though it's very small in the kit, which always drives me crazy. So you've probably tried like a drop of this one. Ha. This one is a jojoba oil base. So like we already talked about, jojoba very closely resembles the texture of your skin's natural oil. So it's a great choice for dry and mature skin.
I, however, think it's a great choice for everybody because I love jojoba oil. And then this one's got a bunch of different seed oils in it. So it's got carrot seed oil, broccoli seed oil, chia seed oil. Chia is rich in vitamin B3 and zinc. This one also has goji, which is rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. It's got plantago, which is a purifying herb. It's also very soothing to the skin. So that's the Anti-Aging facial oil. It's just a very nourishing facial oil for dry and mature skin.
And then in our Wild Alchemy Collection, we have the Rejuvenating Facial Oil. This one is good for all skin types. It's a jojoba oil base as well. This one is our most potent facial oil, our most active facial oil. And the reason for that is our other facial oils, they contain more ingredients. So for example, the herb infusion in the Anti-Aging Facial Oil contains 15 to 20 herbs. This one, there's only one herb. It's the butterfly pea flower. And then in our other facial oils, there are probably 20 to 30 seed oils and CO2 extracts whereas in the Rejuvenating Facial Oil, there's maybe 15, so it’s fewer, but that allowed us to include those at higher concentrations at higher percentages. So it makes it more active and more potent.
So this one, I love this one. It's not always the best choice if you are extremely sensitive. If you are extremely sensitive and you want to use this, you can mix it. So it does mix really nicely with the Anti-Aging Facial Oil or the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin.
So before someone asked about incorporating multiple serums, with the serums we usually recommend that you use one in the morning, and one at night. And you can still do that with the oils. If you want to use two different oils, but with the oils, you can mix them as well. Like I was saying, with this one, you can mix it if you want it to be a little bit more mellow.
But that is the rejuvenating. I think that's all the facial oils, right?
I have to get my computer charger because my computer is going to die. Give me two seconds. This is the problem with switching locations.
I'm back. I'm plugged in. Okay. Awesome. So questions about facial oils? Any?
Okay. What else? Sunscreen.
We have our Sun Love, which is our everyday sheer sunscreen. I always just like to mention that because like I said, with the Revitalize Elixir and the Activated Night Serum you always want to be sure you're using your SPF. So our Sun Love Everyday Sheer Sunscreen is an SPF 20. It's a non-nano zinc oxide. The SPF 20 is great for everyday wear. If you're swimming or sunbathing or sweating a lot then of course, we recommend reapplying. That one can be used on its own, so it can be used as your daytime moisturizer. Or it can be used on top of a facial oil, it's really just personal preference.
And then what else? Eye products. We can talk about eye products really quickly. We have the Anti-Aging Eye Cream and the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum. Both are excellent. I personally love the eye cream and I usually tell people that if they're going to just choose one or the other I recommend the eye cream. For me, this one just feels very nourishing and my eye area always feels super dry and irritated but that one's got cooling cucumber and damas rose plant cells. You can use both products together and that works really nicely. So if you want to use them both, you would layer the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum underneath the Anti-Aging Eye Cream.
Layering them can be a good option for somebody whose eye area is really one of their main concerns. The Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum, it's got pineapple ceramides and sake peptides. The sake peptides can help to retexturize the undereye area to brighten, so this can be a good product to incorporate into your routine if dark undereye circles are a main concern.
With the Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum, I always like to tell people to make sure that you only use a tiny, tiny bit of it, you do not need much. And I also like to recommend applying it while your skin is still slightly damp from your toning mist. If you overuse that one, it kind of like, it just doesn't apply nicely. It kind of pills a little bit. So you only need a tiny bit with that one.
And then I always like to touch on exfoliants quickly because I do think exfoliating is an important part of a routine. Exfoliation can be a little bit tricky because you want to kind of find that fine line. You don't want to over-exfoliate because then you're going to cause some irritation and inflammation in your skin. But a lot of times people will say, my skin is really dry and I'm using all of these hydrating, moisturizing products, but I still feel dry. What is going on? A lot of times I will first ask if they are exfoliating because if you are not exfoliating then you kind of will get this layer of buildup and then your hydrating and moisturizing products aren't able to really penetrate deeply to be absorbed well and to work effectively.
We have three different exfoliants in the line. We have the Ayurvedic Facial Scrub. This one is a dry powdered herbal exfoliant. It is very, very gentle, so it is suitable even for very sensitive skin.
It can be used on its own, so you would shake the powder into the palm of your hand and then mix a little bit of water to create a paste. You can also mix this one directly into your cleanser. It mixes really well with the Phytonutrient Cleanser or the Aloe Herb Cleanser. That's how I like to use it. I love multitasking.
This one, it's hard to overdo it with because it's so gentle that if you wanted to, most people could even use it daily. And it should be fine. It's very mineral-rich. It's got some fenugreek in there. The fenugreek is what gives it a bit of scrubby, gritty texture. Then we have the Kaolin Micro Exfoliant, which is our cream exfoliating scrub.
That one's good for all skin types as well. A little bit richer than the Ayurvedic, so you would want to use the Kaolin maybe two or three times a week. That one you can mix as well. I know that Grace likes to mix that one in with her Aloe Herb Cleanser and it just makes it a little bit more gentle.
It’s got green kaolin clay. So again, very mineral-rich, purifying, and detoxifying to the skin. That one has some lavender in there too, so it’s soothing and it has that lavender scent profile, which is really nice. It’s got crushed bamboo powder, which is the exfoliating component that gives it its grit.
And then lastly, we have the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant. That one is in the Wild Alchemy Collection. That one is a little bit different. The other two are physical exfoliants. So they have that bit of scrubby gritty texture to physically polish the skin. The Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant is a chemical exfoliant. So chemical in the way that it works on the skin, not that it contains a bunch of chemicals. It's got honey-derived lactic acid. That is the exfoliating component. Lactic acid is a very mild alpha hydroxy acid. So again, those alpha hydroxy acids kind of dissolve that glue that holds the top layer of skin cells to help with improving skin texture and tone.
This one doesn't have any scrub or grit to it. You apply it like you would a mask. It's a smooth gel consistency. So you apply it to clean skin, and leave it on just for a couple of minutes to start. If your skin does well with it, you can work your way up to using it for 10 minutes. You want to make sure that you really thoroughly remove it. You're using this one in the evening with an SPF during the day. This one can be excellent for brightening. If lightening the look of dark spots is a concern of yours, this is a really good choice.
Let's see. What else?
For the Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant, most people just want to use that once a week. You don't want to overdo it with that one.
Okay. So masks, we have a few different ones. The Illuminating Pearl Mask. This one is a great one! Everybody loves it. Everybody should just get it. It works really well. It's nice. It's a hydrating, brightening mask. So it's got honey in it, which is going to act as a humectant to draw moisture to the skin. This one has licorice root and uva ursi as well. The same brightening ingredients that are in the Citrus Stem Cell Serum are in this mask. This one also has a crushed pearl powder in it, which is a really unique ingredient. And it gives it this little bit of radiance and luminosity that it imparts onto the skin. This one's, it's kind of like this jelly texture, so it feels really nice and cool on the skin. I like to use this one in the morning, when my skin is really tired and puffy. This is a great one. This one, you can't really overdo it. Like our COO, I think, uses this every day. And then we have the Coconut Honey Mask. That one is good for dry, mature, and sensitive skin. It's a very simple formula. It's very moisturizing. It's sort of like a balmy texture. A lot of people like to use that one like in the dry winter months.
And then the Purifying Mud Mask. I love this one, but nobody in this group probably needs this one. This one is a dry powder, similar to the Ayurvedic Scrub. You can mix it with water or I like to mix it with Manuka honey and that can be a good option if you're somebody who is more dry, but you're wanting to incorporate that purifying component into your routine because the honey is going to act as a humectant to draw moisture to the skin but then you're adding in the purifying properties of the mud mask as well.
So I really like to use it that way. I do a Manuka Honey UMF 15, that is what I usually recommend. And you can just get that at any health food store or on Amazon or whatever. But that's the mud mask and then the Charcoal Cacao Mask. This one is an antioxidant-rich, purifying treatment mask. It's got the activated coconut charcoal, which is going to help to draw out impurities. And then, like I said, it's really antioxidant-rich as well with the cacao and the turmeric in there. Maybe I'll let Grace touch on that one. Cause I know you like that one. Don't you?
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: I do. I use it every once in a while, but I am congestion-prone. So I also use it as a spot treatment sometimes if I just have like one blemish here and there. But my partner, he actually uses it fairly frequently because he's stubborn and refuses to do a full skin care routine, even if I try, but he loves this mask. So he'll use it once a week and he actually really likes it as well because he has larger pores. It's really good for kind of giving your skin like a once a week detox to kind of flush out anything either from outside or inside or anything that could be kind of having your skin reacting. It's a good way to just flush it out. I do. I use it once a week, but I haven't tried more than once a week, but once a week works for me. So I love it. It is black. It stains. It will stain your towels. Yeah, I would probably say once a week is probably good for this one. That's another one that you probably don't want to overdo it with.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: And those are the masks. I think that's everything. Awesome. So, any questions about anything?
Customer: Do you have, can you hear me? Do you have lip balm with SPF?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: We do have a lip balm, our Antioxidant Lip Balm, which is fabulous, but it does not have an SPF in it. I don't really know why we haven't ever made one with SPF.
Customer: I was going to ask, do any of your products have SPF?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yes. The Sun Love Everyday Sheer Sunscreen that I mentioned earlier has an SPF 20 in it. Like I said, you can use it on its own as your daytime moisturizer or overtop of a facial oil. It’s got buriti fruit oil and pumpkin seed oil in it, so it's nourishing to the skin even on its own.
Customer: Okay. Yeah. Emily, could you, could you go back and explain to me where the eye cream is applied during a regimen?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, absolutely. So usually I'll apply it after my serum and then before I apply my oil. You cleanse, tone, and then apply your serum, then your eye cream, and then your oil. I also feel like if you wanted to, you could just apply it at the end after your oil. I think either way would be totally fine.
Customer: Okay. Thanks.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: And all the eye creams, you just want to kind of apply it around the orbital bone. A lot of times people ask if they should apply it closer. I do sometimes apply a little bit to my lid here, but mostly just focusing kind of around the orbital bone should be good with the eye products.
Any other questions?
Customer: Well, I haven't used any of these products and I love, love the sound of a lot of them, but I'm thinking that I should just probably start with the signature series. Right? See how that goes, because you can see I deal with a lot of redness. And then move over to the Wild Alchemy as I get used to this whole process.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, absolutely. I think that's a perfect plan. The Aloe Herb Cleanser and the Probiotic Serum would probably be great for you. And then you could either do the Herbal Facial Oil for Sensitive Skin or even that Radiate Facial Oil that I mentioned, either of those would probably be a good option. And that would be a great place to start.
Customer: Okay. Isn't there a body oil that you have? Yeah, we do have a full line of body products. We have the Coconut Body Oil. We have the Divine Woods Body Oil. Are those the only two right now that we have? I feel like I get confused. Do we still have Enliven?
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: We do have Enliven Body Oil and Love.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh, we have all the body oils right now. I think Enliven and Love are both limited edition, right, Grace? And the Coconut Body Oil and the Divine Woods will be around forever. And I would say, a lot of the difference between the body oils is the scent profile. They contain different oil blends, but they all work similarly. So, it’s mostly just personal preference. Okay. And then we also have the Radiant Skin Silk, which is our body lotion. If you prefer the lotion over the oil.
Customer: Yeah, I'm battling dry, dry skin really bad. All the lotions you get over the counter, and I've even tried some lotions, like from Natural Grocers and stuff they don't quite have it.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Our body scrub, the Body Polish is really great too, for dry skin on your body. It’s very rich. It leaves your skin feeling very moisturized after you use it. But be careful because it will make your shower very slippery.
Customer: Will we be able to listen, you said you're recording it. Do we get this recording?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: I mean, if you want it, I could probably email it to you. We mainly record to use the recordings for blog posts. But if you would like, if you email us and request that, we could probably send it to you if you wanted it. Also, if you guys think of questions after the call, you can always email us at [email protected]. That just goes to our customer care team, but we're very small, so if you put my name in there it'll get to me.
Customer: I have a quick question. Yes. Neck and decollete, can that go on as well?
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Yeah, absolutely. I pretty much always pull my treatment products down to my neck and decollete them as I massage them in. A lot of people also like to use the Radiant Skin Silk Body Lotion on their neck and decollete. I have not tried that myself, but we hear from a lot of customers that they like that. So that's another option.
Customer: Okay. This information has been great and I have some of your products, a few of them, and I'm looking forward to trying a lot more. What I'm wondering is can we still get information without getting an email every day? It'd be nice if there was like a once a month or once a week option.
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: There is an option to change your email preferences. You can change it to a few emails a month rather than daily. You can wait for tomorrow morning or the email you got today. If you scroll all the way down, you'll see unsubscribe or change your email preferences. If you click that, it'll give you an option to change the frequency. And then usually if you do change to just like a few promos a month, we'll only send you emails if it's like a site-wide promotion or a new product or any like essential information that we would think you would want to know about, but less of like the everyday, here's what's going on.
Customer: Great. Thank you. Awesome.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: That's nice that customers can do that themselves now. Cool. Any other questions?
Customer: Yeah, thank you so much for all the info. This has been really helpful.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Oh, good. Sometimes I worry it's just like so much information that people are probably like, what?! So I'm glad to hear it's helpful.
Customer: It does feel like so much because I don't know the product line, but as long as I can get back with somebody and recheck my choices to see if that's appropriate. You know, that's fine.
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: We also hold, in addition to the 90-minute consultation that we're in right now, we also hold a 45-minute Q& A session. So if you're ever, like, a month from now, two months from now, a year from now, if we're still holding it, a year from now, but if you're like, I'm using these products and I want to know blah blah blah, XYZ you can join that consult for however long you want. It's just literal rapid fire questions with Emily or Kate and then you can just hop off when you're done asking questions or it's just a space where you can just get your questions answered in person in real time if you don't want to email or if you're in a time crunch or anything like that. So we do hold those a couple of times a week.
Customer: Oh, do we get notices of that?
Grace Murray – Annmarie Skin Care Marketing Assistant: Well we don't email about it, but we do have, when you go to the, I might be wrong about this, but I'm pretty positive, if you go to the website at the very top, you'll see a skin consultation. If you click on that, it'll give you the option to sign up for the 90-minute or 45 minute. Okay. I'm pretty positive. If you don't see that, email [email protected] and they can give you the link, but I'm pretty positive that's where you will find it.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: All right. Well, thank you guys so much, everybody, for joining and hanging out with us for part of your Wednesday. We appreciate it.
Customer: Yeah, thank you. You did a great job.
Emily Haupt – Annmarie Skin Care In-House Esthetician: Thank you.
