We’ll start with what’s not in it: PABA, cinnamates, and oxybenzone, common ingredients in sunscreens that can actually create free radical damage when they react with the sun. These ingredients have been linked with hormone disruption and cancer, just to name a couple, and thus, you won’t find them in Sun Love.
For this formula, we knew we wanted to use zinc oxide for its safe, sun-scattering properties. It has a long history of use as a physical sun protector. Physical sun protectors absorb UV rays like the chemical versions do, but also scatter the rays as to deflect them before they ever reach your skin.
Next, the concentrated oils. Those of you who love our products know how much we love formulating them with potent, nourishing oils! How perfect is it that sunflower oil contains beta carotene, which we all know the benefits of. Then, we combined antioxidant-rich sea buckthorn seed, buriti fruit and sunflower seed oil to nourish and visibly enhance your glow.
What did we get?
A new, creamy lotion for your sun protection! One that contains a healthy dose of antioxidant rich herbs and oils that help unhappy skin. As a bonus, the lotion is tinted, to add some color to your glow while not leaving any white residue that is common with most zinc based sunscreens. It's the best of both worlds — you don’t need to the fear the sun, and now you won't have to compromise your skin while you enjoy it.
How to use Sun Love?
Sun Love is the last step in your skin care routine– apply it after your cleanser, toner, serum, and/ or oil. You'll find that it has some incredible moisturizing properties and it's tinted just right, so you will feel absolutely complete after one application. If you wear foundation or powder, Sun Love provides the perfect base. Simply apply your makeup after Sun Love.
For the best results, do not massage this product completely into your skin. Zinc oxide works by sitting on top of the skin—the thicker the application, the more protection. Of course, you can blend the lotion for even color, but avoid excessively rubbing it in. This will also help you avoid the zinc “balling up.” Another way to avoid this is by exfoliating prior to use.
Remember that this product is not waterproof, so reapply after swimming, sweating or towel drying.
